Welcome from the Head

My name is Lindsay Mason and I am immensely proud to be the head teacher of Church of the Ascension Primary School. On behalf of our school community, I offer a warm welcome to our school.

Relationships are at the heart of all that we do. We have a clear vision of creating a loving, caring and respectful community, where individuals can learn with love and flourish in faith. We are particularly pleased that this was recognised by OFSTED, in their most recent visit: ‘Positive relationships between adults and pupils mean that pupils learn in a calm and purposeful environment.’ OFSTED 2021

Our school values of thankfulness, generosity, respect, forgiveness, honesty and perseverance, are at the heart of all we do. A love of learning is promoted in a safe and happy environment where everyone feels valued. Through an inclusive and exciting curriculum, all our children are encouraged to reach their full potential. We continually strive to develop subjects to meet the needs and interests of our pupils and look for memorable moments including resources, visits and visitors. Our extensive extra-curricular activities demonstrate our appreciation of the whole child and that we wish to encourage and motivate a wide range of talentsĀ  and interests.

Oracy and courageous advocacy are encouraged, and we hope that all our children feel that they can express themselves confidently and respectfully. There are many opportunities for our children to participate in pupil voice, such as School Council. Wellbeing Ambassadors and Worship Committee. Our pupils are encouraged to be responsible, reflective and thoughtful citizens.

Our school is at the heart of the community, and we value our close relationship with the Parish, enabling our children to grow personally and spiritually. Regular visits to and celebrations in the Church mean that children very much feel part of the Parish.

We are very proud of our school and welcome visitors. Please get in touch with our school office should you wish to see our vision and values, in action.
