“Religions are different roads converging to the same point. What does it matter that we take different roads as long as we reach the same goal? In reality, there are as many different religions as there are individuals.”

Religious Education has a special place at the heart of Church of the Ascension Primary School. Through our Religious Education curriculum, we are passionate about our children being: critical thinkers when enquiring and exploring questions arising from the study of religion and belief, courageous advocates promoting social action within the local community and beyond whilst being aware of their own beliefs and values, which they can reason and articulate confidently.
We aim for our children to develop skills to view themselves as theologians with a secure knowledge and understanding of Christianity and the other principal religious traditions and beliefs represented in Great Britain. Throughout their time with us, we aim for children to understand how religious beliefs and traditions impact on the world in which we live and to develop a positive attitude towards those who hold religious beliefs different to our own.
