Worship Leaders
Our lively team of Worship Leaders are a group of children from Years 4 to Year 6, who lead and contribute to the worship life of our school. We meet on a weekly basis at lunchtimes to learn to become confident leaders of collective worship and to promote children’s understanding of their own and others’ spirituality.
As well as the children very much leading their own development, they do also work towards their bronze, silver and gold Worship Works awards.
Christmas 2023
Our Worship Leaders have completed our Christmas celebrations in church this morning with a church service, created and hosted by them telling the Christmas Story through the power of socks! Thank you to Father Adam and Sian from Church of the Ascension for inspiring and nurturing their creativity.
Well done to our team of Worship Leaders – we can’t wait to see what you do for the Easter service!
Our Summer Reflection Area
One of the tasks to achieve their silver award is to create a reflection area for the whole school to use. This term, the Worship Leaders decided to use an idea that they had from attending a worship forum at St James’ church, Wollaston.
This is our Graffiti Reflection Area, which has been very popular! The worship leaders spoke to every class to introduce this to all of our children and they are fastidious in their management of it.
Ascension Day 2023
Ascension Day saw our Worship Leaders working with Father Adam and leading our worship in church, first for Key Stage 1 and Foundation Stage and then again, for Key Stage 2. They acted, created a call and response, sang, led active prayer and even played the piano to lead us out. Their final message was “I am also with you”. Thank you, Worship Leaders!
